I had a very proud moment as a mother last Christmas. My seven year old son had been chosen to bethe lead role in the Christmas pantomime at school. He was incredibly excited and so was I. Of course, it meant me practicing lines with him endlessly at home but we both thought it was worth it. One of the unforeseen challenges about this starring role, however, was that parents had to provide his costume. Now I am not the sort of mother who sews all her children`s outfits so I found this a real dilemma. Where on earth could I get hold of children`s Disney costumes? I quickly rang round all my friends to ask them if they knew any shops that sold children`s Disney costumes but had no luck. Meanwhile the preparations for the show were going beautifully. My son knew all his lines and actions and practiced so hard he was perfect in his role. I was starting to panic when, out of the blue, my mother of all people said she knew just the person to approach for children`s Disney costumes. I couldn`t believe it. Why hadn`t she mentioned it before? Anyway, she came up trumps. An old friend of hers had been making them for a living for years. Nothing could have been easier in the end and there was no prouder mother than me in the world when the pantomime finally premiered.
